If you see a snake

  • Leave it alone. Snakes are VERY shy and will not attack you unless provoked, so it’s best to not trouble them.

  • If you see a snake inside your home, get everyone (including pets) out of the room so they dont get bitten. After you evacuate call a snake catcher to remove the snake

  • If you see a snake outside, watch where it goes. If it’s heading for the bush or an open area you probably won’t see it again. If it vanishes into a garage or under a vehicle, then immediatly call a snake catcher.

Tips for avoiding a snake bite

  • Never try to catch a snake yourself. This is when most bites happen. (Also NEVER try and kill a snake.)

  • Remember that even little snakes can be dangerous. Some snakes have venom from the time they hatch.

  • Keep your yard clear of long grass, holes and trash so snakes have nowhere to hide.

  • Rats and mice are a snake’s buffet, so clean up after the rats and control rodents on your property.

If you are bitten

  • Always think that the snake is venomous.

  • Stay extremly still. this will reduce the speed that the venom can move around your body.

  • Ask someone for help and make sure to call the Ambulance
